Keck School of Medicine at USC

Hi! My name is Erin Ross, I am an MD candidate at Keck School of Medicine of USC, class of 2024. I grew up in the SF Bay Area, and initially attended UC Davis for undergrad, but it was a poor fit so I went to community college before transferring to Northeastern University to finish my degree. The ups and downs of that period had a great impact on me as a person, and I hope to be able to help students with less traditional paths to medical school to craft a favorable narrative for admissions committees.

While attending Northeastern University, I joined a pediatric epilepsy lab focused on neuroimaging and electrophysiology at Massachusetts General Hospital. After graduating, I spent three years doing research in trauma and critical care at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, SF county's safety-net hospital. In both of these research groups I gained invaluable soft and hard skills through amazing female mentors. This year, I am working on projects in pediatric trauma at CHLA and in burn/plastic surgery at LA County's safety-net hospital, LAC+USC Medical Center.

As a dog lover without a dog, I have volunteered at SPCAs in Boston and San Francisco. In my free time, I like to read fantasy/speculative fiction, snowboard, play basketball, and vigilantly monitor my plants for new leaves.
